Deeper in Prayer…When We Go to War!

We can go even deeper, as deep calls unto deep, by adding to prayer, the principles of the Word of God. It is prayer combined with, not only with a desire to understand God’s Word, but a willingness to obey God’s Word, that is a catalyst for change. When knowledge becomes revelation, Godly conviction can bring about change.

We cannot win the war for our souls or the souls of others without the following elements: a willingness to conform, a consistent prayer life, and God’s Word. When we don’t begin our day with these, it is not possible to bring our thoughts into captivity, have the mind of Christ, or take a stand against our enemy(s). We can have a lot of wrong, fleshly thoughts every day, but when we pray, bringing these thoughts into accordance with the principles of the Word, we will be able to take revenge upon disobedience, and overcome our adversary (see II Corinthians 10:5).

We must fight against the world, the enemy, and our fleshly thinking. If we do not overcome these elements, we cannot win the war for our souls. The war for our souls is a daily battle that we have been instructed to fight with patience, which includes perseverance, and long suffering (see Luke 21:19). It should not come as a surprise to us that we need to take both a defensive and offensive stance.

II Timothy 3:12 says, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” James 1:14 says, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”  The enemy knows our weaknesses. But with the sword of the Spirit and prayer, we can resist his enticement. The importance of prayer can never be minimized, but if we don’t have our thoughts aligned with the principles in God’s word, we cannot win the war. When we go to war, we must be sure that God is on our side with sincere prayer, and obedience. This week pray as a prayer warrior and go deeper in prayer and the Word when we go to war!
