Prayer For the Return of Stolen Vessels

“Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go out ye of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.”(Isaiah 52:11)
“Cyrus decreed the vessels Babylon stole from Jerusalem be returned.” (Ezra 6:5, Daniel 1:2, Apostolic Study Bible). When I read the phrase, “vessels Babylon stole from Jerusalem” my heartstrings perked up. I thought of the prodigals that satan has stolen by taking them captive. I felt called to prayer for them to be released from captivity!
In the Old Testament, Daniel was a sanctified prayer warrior that prayed for the exiles to be returned to Babylon. The stolen vessels that were set aside to be used in the temple were returned as well. In the New Testament people are the chosen vessels of honor, housing the treasure of the Holy Ghost.  Following the example of the Old Testament, sanctified vessels of honor in the New Testament are given the charge to pray for the “stolen vessels”, backsliders/prodigals to be freed from the captivity.
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonor.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”  II Timothy 2:20-21, 24-26
A call to pray:
  • Pray for sanctified, vessels of honor (prayer warriors) to rise to occasion to intercede for the backsliders/prodigals.
  • Pray that servants of the Lord will be equipped with gentleness, teaching ability, patience and meekness to instruct those that oppose themselves.
  • Pray for those that oppose themselves to “come to themselves”, just as the prodigal son did, realizing that they can return to their Father’s house.   Lord, cause them to envision your steadfast love and mercy welcoming them back.
  • Pray that Jesus will cause the backsliders/prodigals to repent to the extent that they acknowledge the truth, and return to a right relationship with Him.
  • Pray that a surge of hope in the power of the Holy Ghost will cause them to recover themselves out the snare of the devil who has taken them captive.  Pray they will make the choice to submit to the Lord; and resist the devil, causing him to flee.
  • Praise and thank Jesus for the returned vessels (backsliders/prodigals).

In the Balance

In the Balance

There is something that has been weighing on my mind lately. God has burdened me for those ‘in the balance’. They haven’t quite turned their back on God but they are thinking about it…teetering on the fence. We mostly focus our prayer on those that are doing great, “lost” or the “backsliders”. But my heart is so heavy for those that are in between these extremes. They come to church, may even volunteer, but outside of church they are being pulled at by the world.
Pray:
  • the protection of their minds and hearts
  • they can discern the voice of God
  • for a hedge of protection around them
  • for spiritual strength
  • for a returning to their first love

Autism and Prayer

Autism and Prayer

People with autism are created by God in a special way. They think differently than most people do. Sometimes they have difficulty talking to other people or looking at you. This doesn’t mean that they don’t want to be your friend or are not listening to you. Treat them just like everyone else. They can also have ultrasensitive senses and can get overwhelmed if it is noisy or crowded. At times they might need a break. If you have someone in your church with autism, talking about things they like might be helpful.

Pray…
  • churches will welcome people with all abilities.
  • they will show the love of God to individuals and families affected by disabilities.
  • teachers will have wisdom to teach and instruct.
  • for the kids in our Sunday school classes to be kind, to talk to kids that are not the same as they are, and to be helpful and be friends with all kids.
  • for people with autism to feel God’s presence.
  • for people with autism to see the love of God when they come to church and to have a desire to serve God all the days of their life.
  • for us to love people like God loves people.
  • for the Ladies Ministries program, ABLE Ministry. (ABLE is dedicated to assisting the special needs and disabled populations within the church and the community.)

Covering Our Pastor’s Wives

Covering Our Pastor’s Wives

While working at my desk the other day, I heard my husband encouraging a pastor over the phone. His wife was being attacked by someone she had been trying to give words of strength and direction to. Because they both felt  God had impressed them to do so, they could not understand why it was received in such a negative way. The pastor’s wife was devastated! This instance brought realization to me that our pastor’s wives are often being attacked. I feel led to pray for pastor’s wives to not grow weary in well doing. Will you join me this week praying not only for your pastor’s wife, but for all pastor’s wives across our fellowship?
Pray…
  • our pastor’s wives will continue as servants in God’s kingdom
  • God’s protection upon their hearts and minds
  • for them to hear the voice of God and not be afraid to share it with others
  • for fresh anointing upon our Pastor’s wives
  • they will have a  passion to reach the lost
  • our pastor’s wives would have a hunger for spiritual gifts
  • for saints to be kind to the pastor’s wife
