Greater Things

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…”
(John 14:12).
The United Pentecostal Church International has embraced the theme “GREATER” as we attest that “Our God is GREATER”! Join with us in our weekly focus prayer and fasting for the January “30 Days of Prayer,” believing that “GREATER THINGS are yet to come”!  Prayer is the greater work that helps us to achieve greater works in Christ as we communicate with (pray) and serve Him fully.
Jesus refers to “greater works” as the extended work of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and empowering us for His divine purpose. As His representatives on earth, Jesus has enabled us to spread the gospel and to operate in the supernatural (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:5, 8; 19:11-12; Ephesians 3:20-21). We can do GREATER works because the ministry of the Spirit is not limited to one person (Jesus) or to one nation (Israel) now. The power comes from Jesus…and as He works in us and through us, we can “turn the world upside down” (Acts 17:6)!
The Church is the visible Body of the invisible Christ! Jesus (the Head) continues to work through the Church (the Body) (Colossians 1:18, 2:19). Though Jesus would no longer be visibly present with the disciples and His believers of that day, His Spirit this day now gives us access to all the delegated power needed to quantitatively extend the work that He had begun! Now, surely, “The power behind us is GREATER than the task before us”!
